Puerto Rico is such an amazing place to visit, and I’ve had the opportunity of living here for three years as of April 23. It seems almost unreal how fast time has flown by since my arrival to the island.

Being here has opened my eyes to an array of new things, more opportunities, and goals for the future. I am blessed to have been able to experience such beauty in a short amount of time, and I want to share it. This post will be bittersweet for me, since we are moving next month. I’m excited about our new location and phase of our lives, but I will miss it here.

If you are able to visit Puerto Rico, here are my personal recommendations. Enjoy!

  1. Old San Juan

2. Pionones

3. Rio Grande

4. Bistro Cafe

5. El Yunque

6. Santurce - Lote 23

7. Wood Doughnuts & Mario's Pizza - Guaynabo (Food)

8. Arecibo

9. Castillo de Cristobal

10. Isla Verde

Who doesn't love a good Self-Care day, or MONTH...

With everything going on, it's super important to maintain a good and positive headspace. Our usual everyday lives can distract us so much that we don't take the time to really care for our mind, body, and souls. Before all of this, I used to have Self Care Sunday's where I'd watch a good sermon and pamper myself the entire day before my work week began. It helped me get through the week with ease after being so relaxed and pampered. Now, I have time to do at least one Self Care act a DAY. What a blessing!

In case you're feeling down or just need to be treated, I created this Self Care menu to help you feed your soul. Enjoy!

SELF CARE MENU

Workout or do some physical activity.

Working out is a really good way to relieve stress. Whatever this may look like to you, whether it’s yoga, meditation, HIIT, Cardio, or just dancing around the house, it’s good to just get your body moving. I like cardio, but I get bored pretty easily, so I love to do a quick 20/30 minute HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training). It gets your heart rate going, and builds muscle which for me works the best for my goals. I love it. I created my own HIIT, check it out below.

There are many ways to get active like yoga and meditation. I’ve tried both, and they are super relaxing and beneficial. One of my favorite things to do is just dance around my living room with the music blasting. It just makes me feel good, all while getting a good sweat. So whatever you choose, make it your own and do what works for YOU.

Read a Book.

If you know me, you know I love a good book! And lately, I’ve had a lot more time to just sit and enjoy a few great ones. I like to just sit on my patio, enjoy this Caribbean sun with a new book, and a smoothie.

Swipe to see some of my new faves.

Try a new face mask.

I’m a skincare junkie so I have a million different masks that I hadn’t tried since purchasing so every week I’ve been trying a new one. My oldie, but goodie, Aztec Healing Clay Mask, is still in my weekly regimen, but I have definitely found some new faves.

Journaling.

I love to Journal! Whether it’s bible journaling or just writing ideas and thoughts down, it can be really relaxing and some good self-care. Treat yourself to a new journal and some cute pens, Amazon has great ones!

Get some fresh air.

Although it’s always hot in Puerto Rico, I’m sure the weather is warming up all around the world as we enter the month of May. Pop of some sunscreen, yes you need it, (but that’s another convo) and get outside. Go for a walk, and if you have a fur baby like me, I know they’ll enjoy it also. Sit on the porch, or in your yard. Grab a blanket, make some lunch, and have your own picnic.

Try a new recipe.

I find so many great recipes on Pinterest. And some, I will be keeping forever! Eating from home during the quarantine has forced me to get creative and healthy with my cooking. My husband is definitely enjoying my new Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe.

Binge watch a new show.

I feel like I’ve completed Netflix at this point! There are a bunch of good shows and movies to watch. Check out my last blog post for my suggestions.

At home date night.

This weekend, I’ve set up a date night. And I mean literally, I have a time and date... we are actually getting dressed (cute loungewear), and having dinner in our living room (with wine of course), and some candles. Since we can’t go out and have our normal date or movie nights, I decided to set one up at home. I’m so excited, and the best part about it, we can have as much wine as we like because we don’t have to drive home!

Listen to Music or a Podcast.

Vibe out to some good tunes, or listen to a bomb Podcast. I love a good Podcast.

Some of my favorite Podcasts right now:

My current Vibe playlist (click to listen/download):

Organize/Clean out your closet.

Since we are moving next month, this one is definitely on my list of to-do’s this month. I refuse to pack clothes I haven’t worn once in the past 6 months. We could all use a good closet purge, right?

Give yourself a Mani/Pedi.

I’ve been doing my own full sets and pedicures since November, and I was lucky to have all the supplies I needed since everything quickly sold out during this quarantine. I love giving myself a fresh manicure and pedicure, it’s all apart of being a woman I guess. Pamper yourself, and give yourself that much-needed love this weekend. You deserve it!

Redecorate your living space.

Adding some new decor pillows, plants or new office space decor can really get you motivated. Since we have to be in the house, make it super nice. Switch things around, and add some cute new pieces on your coffee table. Change your space, make it fun!
